The busy pedestrian street of Avenida Río Nalón between Los Alcázares is to be given a major makeover to modernize the area and make the street both wider and more accessible, the Town Hall announced while presenting the project on Thursday February 13.
Aided by just over a million euros of New Generation funding from the EU, the Town Hall is taking steps to encourage even more people to flock to this area, which has become central to the social life of many residents of the municipality over the last three decades or so. According to Councillor Mª Carmen Guevara, this initiative is far more than a public works project, representing a great change and improvement in the life of the town as a whole.
Mayor Mario Pérez Cervera added that the aim is to stimulate competitiveness, innovation and modernization in what has become one of the key commercial areas of Los Alcázares, making the area more open, friendlier, more accessible and more modern, with specific modifications including the following:
All of the improvements are to be implemented while respecting the principles of environmental management, sustainability, accessibility and energy efficiency, Sr Pérez Cervera added.
