Alicante gets a brief break from intense heat before temperatures climb again: Alicante weather forecast July 27-30

After a welcome break from the recent extreme heat, temperatures are expected to climb steadily through the week, with Saharan dust also likely to make a return

After last week's intense heat, high humidity, freak winds and thunderstorms, the weekend offered a welcome break, with lower humidity and temperatures much more in line with what you would normally expect for July in Alicante Province.

The new week is set to start in much the same way, with plenty of sunshine and more comfortable conditions. However, don't get too used to it, as temperatures are expected to gradually creep back up through the week. Forecasters are also warning that some Saharan dust could drift across the province over the coming days.

Here's a day-by-day look at what you can expect.

Monday July 27

The week gets off to a pleasant start with wall-to-wall sunshine and a welcome break from last week's intense heat. Highs will reach around 31°C in Alicante city and Dénia, 32°C in Elche and 33°C in Orihuela, while inland Alcoy will stay a little cooler at 31°C. Light winds will pick up from the east and south-east during the afternoon before easing again later in the day.

Tuesday July 28

Tuesday will feel very similar, although the mercury will begin to edge up again, particularly away from the coast. Alicante city is expected to reach 31°C, with 32°C in Dénia and 33°C in both Elche and Orihuela. Inland Alcoy is forecast to climb to 34°C. There is also a chance of some Saharan dust drifting across the province, although skies are expected to stay mostly clear.

Wednesday July 29

The warming trend continues on Wednesday, especially inland. Alcoy is forecast to reach 36°C, while Orihuela could see 35°C and Elche around 34°C. Along the coast, Alicante city and Dénia should stay closer to 32°C, although it will still feel hot in the afternoon sunshine. A few clouds could develop over inland northern areas later in the day, and some Saharan dust may continue to linger.

Thursday July 30

By Thursday, inland parts of the province will be feeling the heat once again. Highs of 37°C are expected in Alcoy, with 36°C in Orihuela and 34°C in Elche. Coastal areas will remain a little cooler, with Alicante city forecast to reach 32°C and Dénia 33°C. Skies should stay largely clear, with some Saharan dust still possible and light easterly winds developing through the afternoon.

While the worst of last week's heat may be behind us for now, it's still important to take care in the sunshine. If you're heading out, try to make the most of the fresher mornings while they last, keep well hydrated, wear sunscreen and avoid spending long periods in direct sun during the hottest part of the day. With temperatures expected to creep up again as the week goes on, that cool morning breeze may not be around for long.
